New Year's Eve in the Square

NEW YEAR’S EVE IN THE SQUARE

Me and Madeleine at NYE
It’s like the whole world stopped when I got on the stage. There were so many people! I sucked in the air and then slowly blew out. My music started and I swayed to the beat. When I started singing I got so nervous that I would forget a line! But the butterflies in my stomach were ever so slowly fading. This would be a big achievement and somehow, I wanted it to go on forever. I kept singing until there was a change in the music and I got to the chorus. The song was quite long, but to me it went like a blur.

As I held the last note I raised my hand in the air and finished smiling at the crowd. As the crowd clapped I made my way off stage.

“Give another big round of applause for Eilidh everybody!” Said Mike the host. He called me back on stage to ask me a few questions.
“How long have you been singing?” He put the mic right up to my face and gave me a nod of his head to signal I should answer.
“I’ve been singing around the house ever since I was really little, but I had my first big performance when I was 8 years old and ever since then I’ve just really loved performing” I replied.
Then Mike said to the audience “Who wishes they could sing like that?” I know Mike, I know. Then Terado, Blake, Van, and a couple of other boys from College Street put their hands up.
“Oh look! It’s the same boys from Russell Street School!” exclaimed Mike. I laughed but in my head I was screaming: It’s College Street!!! But I was too nervous to correct him.
“Thank you so much for being here tonight Eilidh!” Said Mike.
“Thanks for having me. Happy New Years everyone!” I said as I made my way off stage, smiling from ear to ear.

This is me at NYE

  1. Hi guys! Hope you've enjoyed my blog so far. It would be amazing if you left a comment about whether or not you've spoken, sung, danced, acted or more on stage! If you haven't, tell me what you love to do!
    See ya later!
